Yes, I know what Dave Letterman looks like, that doesn’t mean whoever is running the show on the local channel should paste stuff over his face. I guess that’s somewhat better than replacing him with a weatherperson for an hour or two.
I don’t care anyway, I was just flipping channels…

Write a Caption: A Contest With a Prize (Again)
May 29th, 2008 · 19 Comments
Overwhelming success of the previous caption-writing contest suggests that if a blogger can’t encourage enough comments by the quality and content of his writing he should look into attracting comments by offering a valuable prize. This week’s prize is a gift that keeps on giving and then can still be recycled - it’s a magazine [...]

Meeting Etiquette for Dummies
May 28th, 2008 · 4 Comments
I wasn’t going to write anything tonight, I had a long day and nothing exciting was coming to mind. That is until I attended the annual orientation for my daughter’s summer camp. I can’t even remember exactly how many times I’ve been to this meeting, my daughter spends every summer at this day camp since [...]

WTF Illustrated: Travel Edition

I guess I had never paid enough attention to the literature sold at the rest stops along I-70. For just three dollars I could have come home not lonely, not fat and cured of my future diabetes (I don’t have it now, but 3 pounds of chocolate and 3 pounds of other candy from [...]
Poll of the Week:Gay or Ney?
May 27th, 2008 · 7 Comments
Results of the previous poll were almost evenly split between the people who watch DVD extras and the ones who think it’s a waste of space. Considering that the vote is within the margin of error results were inconclusive.

Ode to Trader Joe’s
May 26th, 2008 · 7 Comments
On the way back from the weekend trip to St.Louis I composed this piece of fine poetry:
O, Trader Joe’s, I’m drawn to you
Like light-attracted bug.
I have to drive two hundred miles
To buy your legal drug.
O, CEO of Trader Joe’s,
Please clear up this mess
So I can have my choco-fix
And also save on gas!

Jimmy Carter-ing at Lunch
May 23rd, 2008 · 7 Comments
Some day I will go out to get lunch and come back dead or it least in a “critical but stable” condition. That’s because unlike the local lunch-reviewing icon who eats in the safety of Johnson County,I have to forage for food around the war zone a.k.a. Independence Ave. Its unpredictable mix of ethnicities, [...]

Behind the Iron Curtain: Portyanki
May 22nd, 2008 · 11 Comments
Memory is a strange thing. One minute I am reading a story about outpatient surgery in prison and the next minute it takes me back about 20 years when I was sitting in a small army hospital room and another soldier, who was supposed to be a nurse, was poking a scalpel at the infected [...]
