I always liked the restaurant reviews by the Pitch’s food critic Charles Ferruzza. Aside from his annoying habit of listing all of his dinner partners by name I always find his reports informative and fun to read. As always, I was the last schmuck to find out that Ferruzza & CO have a blog where they discuss food-related subjects every day. Apparently Ferruzza eats and writes more than once a week. Who knew!
In other food-related news: The Waiter is coming to Kansas City and will be speaking tomorrow (8/5) at the Kansas City Library. I am usually not the guy who goes to these kinds of events, but I will try to make it there if I can. I followed his blog for a long time and enjoy his style of narrative immensely.
Speaking about local food blogs I am obligated to mention The Knives Errant who recently went online, not because he is good but mostly because every post of his mentions a Russian name “Natasha”.
Lastly, DLC of the Kansas City Lunch Spots recently had a pictorial (or was it a spread) on the Plog, where he was named the Plog-Mate of the Month and Mister July 2008. I am sure he is being surrounded by groupies as I type this in my living room alone.

Must be the monkey paw DLC is chewing on in his profile pic. You can catch Ferruzza on the Walt Boidine radio show every other friday at 10 am or go back through his shows archives on his website.

Thanks for the Fat City blog plug. Yes, it IS annoying to list the dining companions by name, but my editors didn’t like me referring to them as I would have liked to have done:
The Woman Who Whines A Lot
The Loud-Mouth Man Who Uses Big Words
The Guy Who Only Orders Steaks
The Woman Who Says She’s Allergic To Garlic, But Eats It Anyway

[...] There was another guy who was name-dropping during the Q&A part. I hope it wasn’t one Charles Ferruzza, because my mental image of him is on the left and he certainly didn’t look like [...]

I wish I was that THIN! You didn’t see me — I didn’t go to the Waiter Rant lecture at the Library because, frankly, I was a waiter longer than he was and I’ve not only heard all those war stories before, I’ve lived them.
