As you probably know by now, I spend my allotted 30 lunch minutes tirelessly searching for cheap and tasty places to eat, which hopefully were not previously cited by the Kansas City Food Safety Inspectors. Now that I wrote that, the place I visited today is actually on the list, but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad? (I didn’t know before I went).
Actually Kim Long Asian Market and Restaurant is the first Asian store I’ve ever been to that doesn’t have that dreadful smell. The restaurant is in the front part of the store and has a few tables and chairs. The menu choices are photographed and displayed on the wall behind the counter. The scarier items are not labeled and placed inside the counter buffet-style and still served by the restaurant personnel. I recognized the chicken feet;some day I will try them, I am sure they are delicious.
I think the dish I ordered was noodles and grilled pork. It took abut 30 seconds for them to prepare a medium size Styrofoam box to go. Price including tax was $6.43. Pretty good amount of great-tasting food consisted of noodles, strips of grilled pork, pouch of sauce, some vegetables and few spoonfuls of chopped peanuts. I mixed it all up and proceeded to eat it all but it was easily enough for two.
I also purchased few items at the store which turned out to be huge, very clean and well-stocked. Prices seemed to be lower than in other stores.
And for the place having health code violations? If it wasn’t bad enough to shut the place down, it’s good enough for me.

I haven’t tried the chicken feet there either, but I do think most of the restaurant’s other food is pretty awesome.
