even if he was a muslim it wouldn’t matter that much and socialism may not be so horrible if executed correctly, it’s just I have no faith that rabid delusional people I saw on TV have any interest in doing it correctly. Until this country gets a multi-party system (like in France which everyone thinks is so great) and the voters are being forced into two giant herds there wil be no incentive to represent the people who don’t agree with radicals on either side.
Keith, the email you typed in bounces, sorry you are not getting my thoughtful comments.
I’ve been telling people that for some time. If we had more parties involved in the system, people will have better options, thus better representation. Additionally, it will force coalition building rather than continued voting along party lines.
Ok, I’ll try a different email. That first response was totally tongue-in-cheek. It was a portrayal of all of the worst fears of Obama’s opponents during the elections.
He’s not a muslim, not that I care since there’s no religious test for office. He’s not a socialist either. He’s a slightly left-of-center pro-capitalism politician. We’ll see if his ideas and plans have merit in the coming years.
though i may be..uh, somewhat of a liberal-minded progressive, i’m going to wait on declaring the U.S. a new socialsit regime.
mostly because i don’t think President-elect Obama has ever made a drop at all, much less a night drop.
sure, we could rig him up to go static-line in the daytime, but…and i’m just thinking aloud here… the element of surpise would be lost and the DOW would sky-rocket as an advance counter-punch.
I haven’t seen the numbers for a little while, but I’ll be happy to see Missouri’s “bellweather state” status evaporate. That’s assuming that McCain’s paper-thin lead holds out, of course.
For the first time, I have to disagree with you, Meesha. Our two-party system one of the main things that has kept this country stable for the last 100 or so of our 220-plus years … It marginalizes radicals. Look at Israel, where the large parties are shadows of their former glory, begging for the little parties to come aboard their coalition, promising the moon and stars.
Rick, the reality is that one party can’t represent the range of people from fred phelps to someone who is just not crazy and fiscally conservative. Same is on the other side – you have people who live in the trees and throw crap at police, to sane people with liberal views. Candidates fail trying to please their extreme constituents while not scaring their centrist majority. Good example was Palin, she was picked to rally up religious people but turned off everyone else. Two-party system cannot represent 300 million people with a huge variety of political and economical views.
I have to agree with you Meesha. I’ve pushed hard to support Obama because the alternative sucked. But this two party shit has to go.
I am hoping that local elections will start letting some libertarians, greens, apples or communists become representatives. Only chance I see of making a change.
Welcome to glorious Muslim Socialist Republic of America!
Too bad Patrick Swayze won’t be around for much longer to save us.
YAY FOR OBAMA!

Totally agree with you on that comment Meesha.

Loved that movie, but don’t remember any Muslims in it.
