Because so many of them lost their pensions in the transition from communism, I can't really blame them for being nostalgic for the way things were. Though to temper that statement, I never heard anyone say anything positive about the Stalin years except that the Nazis were defeated. It seems to me that "the good old days" refers to Khruschev onwards.
