Results of the previous poll were almost evenly split between the people who watch DVD extras and the ones who think it’s a waste of space. Considering that the vote is within the margin of error results were inconclusive.
This idea for this week’s poll came to mind while browsing the St.Louis exhibit at the Missouri History Museum. When I was growing up© chances of seeing a real life gay person were slimmer than the chances of personally meeting a yeti. Many actions, gestures and articles of clothing were not judged on a “gay scale” mostly because we didn’t know such a scale existed. Yes, we’d heard legends that such people lived but they certainly wouldn’t be open about it so it was OK for two guys to hug without any second thoughts. The phrase “that’s so gay” wasn’t a part of the Russian language. That’s why when I saw this picture taken in 1895 I thought how the interpretation would have changed over the years. I am sure that if they were really gay in the late XIX century they wouldn’t be taking pictures and bragging about it. However, today this picture is “totally gay”. I am interested in what you think about it, many of you have been around gay culture for much longer than I have. The poll and the link to the description of the image can be found below.

I love the Missouri History Museum. Been there a couple of times and have always loved the exhibits!

I voted yes. they are well dressed, posing with flowers and touching knees. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

The knee-touching is what sells me here. If you’ve got face-whiskers like that and another man is touching you on the thigh, something unpleasant to watch is about to happen one way or another.

Totally NOT gay. I don’t see why two d00ds can’t get together, skip through a field of flowers, pick some pansies, touch knees and put their arms around each other without being called gay.

This pic kinda reminds me of the pictures where you can see two things at once: is it a young lady or old lady? Do you see a candle or two people? It looks like the one dude is placing his hand on the other’s knee, but alas, it’s not to be.
